I am a 69 year old who has been running for over 35 years and have also been involved in various other athletic activities, some of which are listed below:
Along with running:
* At age 56 became a Certified Open Water Scuba Diver
* Between ages 56 and 61 was extensively involved in mountain biking (for recreation only)
* Between ages 56 and 61 taught Spinning Classes (stationery bike) at Whitby Recreation Centre
* At age 60 did my first sky dive from 10,500 ft.
* At age 61 ran first full marathon – Toronto Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon
* At age 62 ran Toronto International Marathon
* At age 64 ran the Ing New York Marathon
* At age 66 ran the Bank of America Chicago Marathon
* At age 67 ran the Bermuda Triangle Marathon Weekend, consisting of 1 mile first night, 10k the second day and a full Marathon on the final day
* At age 67 hiked the Grand Canyon down and back up in one day
* At age 68 hiked the Grand Canyon for a second time
* At age 69 will start training for Ing New York Marathon, which I will run when I turn 70
During all these years I have run over 30 half marathons and various other distances.
I have been training with Mike on a personal trainer level and also in a group setting. He has helped me overcome injuries and helped me in my core training to ensure that I would be able to accomplish all these goals. His knowledge is vast and if he does not have an answer for you right away, he will research it until he does. I am more than pleased with what he has helped me cross off my “bucket list”.
